Growing up in a world where visual information reigns king invites me into a relationship with the visuals I both create and consume.

My body of work varies greatly in methodology and medium, and this cross-disciplinary practice brings unique insight that contributes to my multimedia approach. As I study and experiment with different mediums, I explore the idea of art as a cognitive relationship to the artist creating it. How can the medium be broken down into its essential components, and how do these components interact with each other, the artist, the viewer, and the larger context in which they exist? This process of deconstruction and intentional reconstruction brings to question what it means to be an artist working in the digital space, and my work acts as a roadmap to a potential answer to this question.

Kyle Kopta was born in Hermiston, Oregon. After graduating from high school with a Program of Study Certificate in Multimedia Arts, he went on to attain his Associate of Arts degree with a focus in Visual Arts from Blue Mountain Community College. He then completed his BA at WSU Tri-Cities in Digital Technology and Culture with a minor in Fine Art, where he was the first ever recipient of the Inaugural Douglas P. Gast Fine Arts Scholarship and was awarded the Perseverance Award for Excellent Work from ASWSUTC. Kyle has collaborated with many organizations in the region, including ASWSUTC, Washington State University Rotary Club, Kennewick School District, Richland School District, Northwest Public Broadcasting, and the Washington State Art Commission.
